Professional Summary: Created and Sold Company to Thomson Reuters
I was founder and CEO of a company, WorldTrade Executive (WTE), which created and managed information services to help multinational corporate executives cope with legal and tax issues in some of the fastest growing countries in Asia and Latin America and in the most difficult areas to obtain quality legal and financial information. I sold the company to Thomson Reuters as TR sought to expand its international tax and legal offerings and continued to manage the business for another four years.
Consultant for International Law & Business Issues
After leaving Thomson Reuters/WorldTrade Executive, I focused on delivering tax, law, and legal information to various firms including a six month consultancy for Baker & McKenzie's LawInContext affiliate which provides training and resources for multinationals. I also ran a successful conference sponsored by Baker & McKenzie and PWC on "Doing the Deal in Africa" and have an event in planning on "Supply Chain Risks in Developing Growth Markets" to be held at Baker & McKenzie D.C. offices.
P&L and Strategic Management
My roles at WorldTrade Executive ranged from developing the concepts, obtaining financing, and running the businesses emerging from these concepts, including business development and strategic execution. I had P&L responsibility and was a hands-on manager.
History of Innovation
With the backing of some investors, I founded WorldTrade Executive (WTE) in 1991, which came to publish 20 information services and journals in international law and finance along with related books and reports. The focus for all of these services was to create relevant information to support attorneys and senior corporate executives who are making decisions on the proper structure for multinational businesses.
WTE was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2009, and I continued to manage the publications and staff involved and to provide strategic advice until December 2013. Representative titles published by WTE include a series on Practical International Tax Strategies with regional editions for Asia, China, Latin America, and the US; Latin American Law & Business Report; Venture Equity Latin America; Practical International Corporate Finance Strategies; Russian Petroleum Investor, and other titles. I also created conferences and webinars on topics covered by the various publications over the years, including one in partnership with Dow Jones and another in partnership with Chase Bank.
